Weather update
I know, I know: what’s he doing blogging about the weather? Has he run out of things to say?
Well no, I’ve got plenty of things to write about thanks very much; I just happen to like talking about the weather.
So here goes.
As you will no doubt be aware (primarily because I’ve been going on about it non-stop, such as in this post), winter is pretty cold here. However over the last couple of weeks it’s started to get rather nice and warm. The weather reports love to describe weather in terms of the seasonal average — apparently we’ve been enjoying warm days of the “late March to early April” variety. It’s been so hot that on our daily sojourn over the mountains we are frequently reduced to T-shirts by the end. Tomorrow it is supposed to be a positively balmy 18 degrees.
But next week, I’m happy to report, a cold snap is coming, with a top temperature of just three degrees on Tuesday. And what’s more, there’s snow forecast (according to my favourite Mihara weather website. The lucky kids, trudging through the snow for an hour just to get to school. But I’ll be out there taking heaps of photos of their gruelling trek so they can look back on it and laugh when they’re older. In any case they get a reprieve when the weather warms up again on Wednesday and Thursday: top of four.
Stay tuned for more exciting weather updates.

This blog is about the adventures of a family of Australian barbarians spending two years in the islands of southern Japan. Stay tuned for regular updates on the food, the culture, the earthquakes, the wacky festivals, the school system and more.
